Is MONQ an E-Cig?
No. MONQ is an Aromatherapy-based wellness diffuser, a modern update of an ancient tradition. It is not an e-cigarette, as it is completely free of nicotine, tobacco, artificial flavors and propylene glycol. MONQ is sometimes referred to as a vaporizer as it vaporizes the essential oils and wild plant extracts.
What’s In It?
For all 10 MONQ blends, USA-grown organic plants, when available, are extracted and then infused into 100% pure, food-grade vegetable glycerin, which the FDA recognizes as safe. Lab tests have found MONQ NOT to include formaldehyde, nickel, tin, lead or aluminum.
How Do I Use MONQ?
Breathe Therapeutic Air® into your mouth and exhale through your nose. This may provide the best experience because Aromatherapy is most effective when the aroma is closest to the nose’s Olfactory Nerve Endings.
Gentle puffs are sufficient and your mouth does not need to wrap very tightly around the device. Each MONQ should last at least a week or two when used like this, and will provide for approximately 200 gentle puffs.
Can Anyone Enjoy MONQ Aromatherapy?
Almost. However, people under 18 should not use MONQ. Neither should pregnant or nursing women. While not illegal for those under 18, MONQ does not want to encourage the familiar ‘hand to mouth’ habit in impressionable children. Some essential oils are uterine stimulants, and should be avoided by pregnant women.
Isn’t inhaling concentrated essential oils dangerous?
That is exactly correct. However, when you are breathing in MONQ Therapeutic Air, you are not breathing in concentrated essential oils. Rather, you are breathing in a custom formulated mix of dilute essential oils in a carrier base of pure organic vegetable glycerin.
Are There Any Research Studies Supporting These Claims?
There are many actually.
♦ This study showed that “terpenes” (the secondary metabolites which make up aromatherapy fragrances) provide a variety of beneficial functions.
♦ In terms of human cognitive performance, a number of randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, balanced-crossover trials of single doses of GE (ginseng extracts) have demonstrated consistent improvements in the accuracy of memory task performance (161, 162, 163), improvements in the speed of performing attention tasks (163), and decreased latency of evoked potentials and topographical modulation of electrical activity as measured by electro-encephalography.
♦ A number of double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, balanced-crossover studies in healthy humans have demonstrated improved memory (174–176), attention/executive function (176, 177), and mood (175, 177), following single doses of cholinesterase-inhibiting sage extracts or essential oils.
♦ Single doses [of 1,8-cineole a monoterpenoid from sage] administered to healthy adults were shown to improve attention, memory, and working memory/executive function task performance, and to increase subjective alertness (106).
♦ Valerian extracts (VE) have a long traditional history as mild sedatives and anxiolytics (179).
♦ In 1 study, valerian was also shown to be equivalent to benzodiazepines in sleep quality and waking symptoms in insomnia outpatients (190).
♦ A recent meta-analysis that included 18 studies (196) found that VE significantly improved sleep quality when measured by a simple subjective yes/no question.
♦ When applied by inhalation LA (Lavender Oil) has been associated not only with feelings of pleasantness but also with some improving effects on mood and anxiety (3) (4). (Many of the articles written on this site cite studies showing the benefits of Lavender on modern degenerative conditions.)
There are synergistic effects between various substances found in MONQ, and one clear inference you should take from this is that you cannot make conclusions on the action of MONQ as a whole based upon the actions of individual components. More specifically, MONQ has not been tested with respect to any of the alleged benefits that are described in this article.
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Do not use MONQ if you are allergic to any essential oil.
